What
Wedding invitations, thank you note and collateral for my own wedding. We cellebrated our ceremony and held a small reception in London with our family and close friends and hosted another reception in Madrid two weeks later with the people who couldn’t attend the event in London. This is why we decided to make two different invites — one for each city — using iconic landmarks for us like the street where we live in London (featuring a double decker) and the “El Oso y el Madroño” statue located in our former neighbourhood in Madrid.
Why
My wife and I wanted to send wedding invites to our friends and family and we wanted them to be as much as possible an expression of ourselves. We thought appropriate to use mixed media and traditional processes like brush lettering and to unify different treatments.
How
The first step was to decide the overall mood, composition, colour palette and typography. Once we were clear on how to keep the different designs consistent throughout the project we focused on giving a unique touch to every element. Here’s when we came up with the idea of using both British and Spanish flags’ colours to differentiate both events.
We also decided to create a monogram with our initials that we could use in every element and made the whole project easily recognizable.
